About jackfruit
Jackfruit is the world's largest tree fruit and a staple of South Indian kitchens. Inside each fruit are sweet, fragrant bulbs with a flavour often compared to banana, pineapple and mango combined. We use only the ripe bulbs, removing the rind, core and seeds before drying.
Why freeze-dried
Fresh jackfruit is heavy, perishable and difficult to ship. Freeze-drying removes the water at low temperature, so the bulbs keep their colour and aroma and become shelf-stable without sugar or preservatives. One crisp piece delivers the full flavour of the fresh fruit.
How buyers use it
- Snack packs and trail mixes
- Breakfast cereals, granola and muesli
- Smoothie and shake powders
- Ice cream, chocolate and bakery inclusions
Sourcing and season
We buy ripe jackfruit from growers and farmer markets in Kerala and coastal Karnataka during the main season. Bulbs are cleaned and prepared on the day they are cut.
Packing and storage
We supply food-grade, moisture-proof bulk packs and retail-ready pouches, including private label. Keep packs sealed in a cool, dry place. Once opened, reseal tightly, because freeze-dried food absorbs moisture from the air. Full specifications and certificates are shared with every quote.
Questions
Does it contain seeds?
No. Seeds are removed by hand before drying, so you receive pure bulb pieces or powder.
Is it the same as jackfruit used as a meat substitute?
No. Meat-substitute products use unripe green jackfruit. We use ripe, sweet jackfruit, which is a fruit snack and ingredient.
What is the minimum order?
Minimum order quantities depend on the format and packing. We start with sample orders, and include MOQs with every quote.
